MLCA Committee List
As of January, 2012 the following are the committees that help MLCA function efficiently, serve its members and advance its objectives. The words following each potential committee are intended to suggest the general scope of responsibilities.
If you are willing to help in any of these areas, or know a neighbor who might, please contact a member of the Board. MLCA needs to capitalize on the strengths of its members to be effective.
Communications – Charlie Lovelace, Chair
This committee will be responsible for coordinating all communications between the board and the members as well as member to member communications. The committee will keep an up to date data base of all members.
Media – Sharon Hamilton, Chair
Review or prepare for review position statements that may be issued to the public, interface with local media representatives.
Newsletter - Ed Harms, Chair
Create and distribute the Association Newsletter.
IT / Web – Bill Koepnick, Chair
Maintain the web site.
Legislative / Legal – Jack Makuch, Chair
Remain current on legislative action and initiatives that impacts members. This is initially focused on local government (Anderson, Oconee, and Pickens Counties) but could expand to the state level for GA and SC.
Lake Management – Chair Open
Establish relationships with US Army Corps and Duke Lake Management, develop methods to remain current on activities and proposed actions impacting members.
Membership – Terry Swanson, Chair
Maintain a roster of current members and seek to recruit new members.
Zoning – Jim Codner, Chair
Interact with the various local County Planning Commissions and those entities working on land use planning, coordinate efforts of area captains to solicit petition signatures requesting initial rezoning, and assist other local groups as they initiate the zoning process.
